I was used to turning on Spotify, Pandora, Podcasts, Youtube videos, FB stuff, Hay house radio to keep me company while I cooked, cleaned, did my bills or even studied. Some of the time I listened and enjoyed the music or information but it became a vacant habit that filled the space and clogged up my mind, and it also started to become background noise. In the last 3 weeks I have started a practice of having quiet around me. It just happened one day that I stopped automatically turning something on. I stopped. I have my own thoughts and ideas! It's time to pay attention to those! This practice of silence around me, helps me to focus more clearly on the task at hand and allows more of my own mind space, so that there is room for my mind to expand, breathe, open, and daydream again. It leaves my mind feeling clear and clean. It's nice to hear the birds chirping and outside, while I enjoy the silence inside.
