By sacred space, I mean, a place where you can sit, meditate, relax, reflect, read, pray, journal, think, etc... Think of it as a container to hold you when you need to come into yourself in the morning or after busy day. And because of the repetition, the energy builds, like a battery.
What does it look like, feel like? What do you have in it? Does it make you feel at peace? If your resting and decompressing time is in front of the tube or on the computer, I'm asking you to take some time out this week to create a nook, a space where you can feel safe to be, to decompress and feel peace in your home, to sit with your body, mind and spirit. It doesn't take much, but it's a great way to reconnect to self, to rest and ease, in your home. A sacred space can be a chair you love where you light a candle near and sit for a few minutes a day. It could be set up as you shower while listening to soothing music. It could be a yoga mat on the floor where you stretch and tune into your body. It could be a space on your bookshelf where you keep sacred objects and a journal or diary of your thoughts and processing. It may be a creative space where you write or draw. What are you going to do this week to improve upon or create your sacred space? Tell me about it! I'd love to know. So Much Love, Vivian Astara

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, 'Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?' Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.” ― Marianne Williamson How does this message resonate for you? I need reminders from time to time and this is a powerful way to remember! Thinking of you, and wishing you well. All my Love, Viv Astara Take a moment to reflect on the last few days, how you have done things that connect you to the spirit of who you are. Have you danced, sang, prayed, intended, meditated, lit a candle, written, walked in the light of nature? How can you reconnect to yourself more often and breathe in new possibilities? Take a moment to Re-Connect to You~ I asked for a sign while I was driving and I heard “Oh Spirit”! This made me smile as a great reminder that I am a spirit, living in a human body, experiencing life on Earth temporarily, for this sacred moment in time. We are each spirit souls, having this temporary life with those around us, in these bodily forms. I realize there are a few things I can definitely move away from (including being too serious, getting stuck) and some things I would love to bring in more of (action, more joy and laughter). I love connecting with spirit! The signs, the intelligence, the faith and trust in me has been growing deeper. I am learning that one step at a time is the most important to focus on. Keeping the few steps in mind per day or week, while seeing the vision is what will keep me grounded and forthcoming. I know that in remaining in my step, I will be carried forward, with trust, faith and clarity, to the next step. I just need to stay focused on the current step. Knowing that you are Spirit, living in a human body, what could you do more of for you? What could you do less of? In Deep Luminous Light, Vivian Astara Sakellariou It's time to look again at what I have stashed away... files, paintings, art supplies, notebooks, books, papers, crafts, etc... I worked on the garage, files, magazines, upstairs closets, clothes, the desk drawers and now it's time to tackle head on the toughest clearing, the one that has taken me over a decade to be ready for---- the art portfolio. College was a very significant time in my life, where I was on my own for the first time and I began to express myself as I never had. I got to draw, paint, print, explore with materials, find images that spoke to me, and I navigated with some guidance, but very much intuitively, with lots to give to my process. It was so therapeutic to learn about how the arts and self-expression flowed out of me and was revealing, sometimes scary, but ultimately soothing to my soul. Emotional attachments are the ones left last, so that the others can help clear the way to the ones that hold deeper sensitivities. I will report back on how it goes. Wish me luck! What is your place of material things with locked in emotions that haven't been touched in years or decades? Are you ready to take this step with me? Please share your experiences!
I was used to turning on Spotify, Pandora, Podcasts, Youtube videos, FB stuff, Hay house radio to keep me company while I cooked, cleaned, did my bills or even studied. Some of the time I listened and enjoyed the music or information but it became a vacant habit that filled the space and clogged up my mind, and it also started to become background noise. In the last 3 weeks I have started a practice of having quiet around me. It just happened one day that I stopped automatically turning something on. I stopped. I have my own thoughts and ideas! It's time to pay attention to those! This practice of silence around me, helps me to focus more clearly on the task at hand and allows more of my own mind space, so that there is room for my mind to expand, breathe, open, and daydream again. It leaves my mind feeling clear and clean. It's nice to hear the birds chirping and outside, while I enjoy the silence inside.
Doing something quiet, doing something that gets you centered is a sacred practice. There are many distractions at our fingertips. If only you could focus on one thing today, what would it be? Make a list of things you'd like to focus on, in the next two weeks, but limit it to 2-3 things per week. The attention given to these things creates a timeless experience because your focus gets greater when you simplify and give yourself the permission to slow down and rest your attention on one thing at a time. It's like a gift, that unfolds slowly, attention given is energy received.
Do you ever plan to do something nice for yourself, but get too tired, forget about it or keep putting it off? Why should you put yourself last? You have this vehicle, your body, for a lifetime. When you've reached a certain age, you realize that time moves much more quickly than when you were a child. Take the time to notice things around you on your walk: watch a bird, tune into the river, breathe in a little deeper, look in the mirror a little longer, but see yourself, really see yourself. You are worth 5 minutes today. You are worth even more than that! But what do you want to give yourself today that you've been missing out on? Can you take 5 minutes to just sit and stare at the tree or clouds or to journal or breathe?
Is there one thing you want to change? One small thing? Identify it. Are there many things that come to mind? Make a list of a few things or until you run out of things to mention.
I challenge you to start today. Pick one thing from your list and Start right now! If you so feel the call, share in the comments to let me know what you are changing. I am starting this blog because I want to share what I'm passionate about. I want to give voice to the things I believe in and do! I have many things on my list, but I will start here, by blogging. I am starting today. How about you! Will you join me? Changing, one thing at a time. |
